A review of 57 studies found that delaying sexual activity reduces the chances of contracting sexually transmitted diseases, improves reported relationship satisfaction of future romantic relationships, and decreases the chances of a first marriage ending in divorce. For women, delaying sexual activity has also been associated with fewer depression symptoms and higher graduation rates. *
